The Teal Pumpkin Project

Do you know about the Turquoise Pumpkin?

There is an understanding in our neighborhood that if there is a pumpkin on the porch - any pumpkin - jack-o-lantern, painted, plain... then they welcome trick or treaters on October 31.

But if there is a turquoise pumpkin, it means that they also have non-candy treats for the kids who may be diabetic or have allergies. We have a separate bowl with stickers, sticky hands, silly pens, fun pencils and erasers for the kids who don't want candy but want to get in on the Halloween fun.

So if you get a lot of trick or treaters (or even if you don't), you may want to consider the turquoise pumpkin and give the kiddos an alternative to chocolate and sugar.
