Picking an infant car seat is hard. Choosing an infant car seat can be an overwhelming task. And it’s not something you can put off! The hospital won’t let you take your baby home unless you have one! Did you know that car seats expire? So while using hand-me-downs for some things are awesome, make sure you check that your car seat is still good to use. The plastics are known to lose their integrity with age and that’s why it isn’t as safe to use if they are expired. I recently had to find a new infant car seat since our Peg Perego Primo Viaggio had expired. I was delightfully surprised by all the new models since our first son. I ended up purchasing the Nuna Pipa Lite LX. I chose this for two main reasons: 1. The car seat is ONLY 5 lbs. Compared to our Peg Perego which was 11 lbs and recalling postpartum recovery and lugging a baby around during that, this was the main thing that sold me. 2. The car seat is ONLY 5 lbs! Just kidding - in addition to the amazing fact that it's incredibly light, it has a fantastic built-in breathable, sun shade! So no extra stuff to remember and haul around on windy or sunny days! Along with those two factors, the base is incredibly hefty and definitely built for safety. It has a front bar that helps in stabilizing the forward momentum during an event of an accident and like most bases these days, it also clips directly into a car's seat anchors. The Nuna Pipa Lite LX comes in a variety of colors and Nuna has also collaborated with numerous brands for exclusive colors. I can't recommend this infant car seat enough to all the picky parents out there!
