Allergy Free Thanksgiving

Growing up I didn’t have the fondest memories of food at Thanksgiving. I mean, I loved

how everything tasted and being around family, but after the meal I was always incredibly ill.

Well, what I didn’t know was that I had a food allergy to gluten, which explains a lot of my

hesitation towards the holiday.

Well, food has come a long way since those days and so has so many wonderful items

that make it possible for people of all different types of food allergies to enjoy the big day. Last year one of my favorite products was the 365 whole foods brand of crispy onions. GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE was a go again. (I have missed this dish for over a decade).

Stuffing is also finally possible as there are many local GF bakeries that provide breadcrumbs. However, I have found a great brand in the store, Aleias (which comes in plain or savory) and can finally make stuffing like mom used to make. Now, I can’t forget one of the quintessential parts of Thanksgiving and that is dessert! Trader Joe’s Gluten Free pie crust in the freezer section is legit (In fact, I have passed it off as non-GF for unsuspecting family members). Now I can have my pie and eat it too!

The great thing is there are so many amazing products that accommodate all types of

food allergies, not just gluten. So, in the spirit of the holiday, we can all be thankful and enjoy amazing tasty food while including everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
